Crush Me Press:

And just who makes up the Crush Me Press rating board, you ask? Five of its esteemed members are seasoned sommeliers and graduates of the International Sommelier Guild (ISG). At one time, the ISG was the only accredited wine certification course in the United States. The course lasts for 6 months, requiring 8 hours of in-class instruction and 16 or more hours of outside study per week. Exit testing lasts for 2 days, during which 3 written tests are administered: long essay, short essay, and 200 question multiple choice tests. Then the grueling practical tests that prove the metal of the applicants. The first involves a wine pairing exam, in which candidates must properly pair wine with two 5 course gourmet menus. The second is a wine service exam for both still and sparkling wines. The final practical exam involves a blind tasting of 21 wines and spirits, covering all aspects of wine, including defective wine.

In addition all wines are blind tasted by a panel of wine lovers as well as experts before rating on the 100 point scale. Over 1500 hundred wines a year are tasted. If it in our portfolio it’s been tasted, spit, re-tasted and paired with a meal. When we are sure and only then is it offered for sale.

Brix House wine also uses rating serveces such as Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, Wine Enthusiast, and Tanzer.
